Learn the Secrets of Audi’s Legendary Quattro All-Wheel Drive System

These days, over eight-five percent of Audi vehicles sold come with some form of their quattro all-wheel drive—a legendary system that has underpinned models for over thirty five years. If that’s not a vote of confidence, we don’t know what is. If you’ve been eyeing a model and want to know how much of a difference quattro makes, read on.

Quattro is embodied by a simple philosophy: sending power to the wheels with the most traction before wheel slip has the chance to occur. Other automakers offer predictive systems, but none work as well as Audi’s. One reason is that quattro works using a center differential connected to two output shafts instead of a heavier transfer case. This enables the system to route power between front and rear axles, while torque vectoring sends power between that axle’s wheels. The result is the legendary grip that quattro is known for—providing performance on dry roads, and safety and composure on wet ones.

You can find quattro on every new Audi model we sell—from the A4 all the way up to the Q7, TT, and both S and RS line models. To experience it in action, contact our Livermore, CA dealership and request to test drive a model with quattro.
